Red Handing now in charge of Norwegian's operations at Oslo Airport Mar 23, 2023 (newstodate): As planned, and taking effect from March 22, 2023, Norwegian has now turned to self-handling at Oslo Airport. Announced in September 2022, Norwegian has thus ended its handling cooperation since 2015 with Menzies Aviation at Oslo, instead setting up handling by Red Handling Norway, a fully-owned subsidiary, to provide the carrier with check-in, boarding and arrival operations. -Today, Oslo airport represents over 50 percent of our total passenger volume, and having ownership of the customer experience will enable us to deliver a better service to our customers. Phase one sees 150 new employees joining the Norwegian Red Handling team; this number will more than double next year when we plan to further expand our ground handling services, the company says on LinkedIn. Red Handling that is also to take over de-icing of Norwegian's flights at Oslo Airport from March 2024, today provided by Menzies under a three-year contract signed in December 2021. In 2016, Norwegian set up its own handling company, Red Handling, to serve its flight operations at London Gatwick Airport. In January 2022, Red Handling UK however found a new owner: the US company Fenix Logistix Ireland that took over Red Handling from February 1, 2022, as part of its decision to develop business opportunities in Ireland, the UK and throughout Europe.
